Perfect Delivery Inter-Districts off to a flying start

Defending champions JBA secured 22 points on the opening day of the Bowls South Africa Perfect Delivery Men’s Open Inter-Districts on Monday.

JBA hosting the event got off to a flying start with 11 points in their opening match against Northern Free State.

Skipped by Jason Evans and Gerry Baker they were always going to be the team to beat and backed up their morning win with a 11-1 win over Natal Inland.

In the Red section, Gauteng North opened up with a pair of 10s to sit in first place after day one.

Wins over Mpumlanga and Port Natal have set up the competition for a Jukskei derby in the finals. Limpopo, though, are just two points behind after a strong start to the event.

In the Women’s Open, Eden are top of the Blue division with 20 points meaning the defending champions JBA are now in second with 18 points with Sables just one point further back.

Gauteng North’s Women’s side dropped just one point on Monday to sit in first place ahead of silver medallist from 2024 Western Province, who have earned 20 points from the available 24 on offer.

Border are third but on 12.5 points.

In East London, JBA’s Men’s B side are leading their section with 20 points while Sables on 18.5 points are 0.5 ahead of Southern Free State in the opposite section.

In the Women’s event, JBA are on 20 points ahead of EP on 19 points while Border on 18.5 and Boland on 18 are giving chase.

In the Red section, Eden are on 17 points which has them two points clear of Western Province’s B Women.

In Cape Town, JBA’s Men’s Veterans have moved into top spot on 21 points with Boland second on 18 points.

In the Blue section, Southern Free State and Eden both have 18 points for their efforts on the opening day.

At Constantia, home side Western Province are 0.5 points off the pace set by Port Natal in the Women’s Veterans.

In the Red section, Gauteng North opened up with 23 points to lead by seven from Natal Inland.
