The sport in South Africa complies to international standards and Bowls South Africa is the governing body. Newcomers to the sport are encouraged and guided by qualified coaches and introduced to the club system.

International Bowls for Disabled World Championships 2024

The 5th International Bowls for Disabled (IBD) World Championships that is to be hosted by Ekurhuleni Bowls is being played at Delville BC (HQ), Kempton Park, (Alt HQ) and Benoni Bowling Clubs from 18 - 31 May 2024 with Lake BC being the practice club.

Participating nations:

South Africa, England, Scotland, Canada, Hong Kong, Malaysia, South Africa, Singapore, Thailand and Korea.
